BEANZ MEANZ FIGHTZ
Well I must award a dustbin lid to the people involved in the great Netto bean war.
With the budget supermarket closing down just a couple of months after it opened in Little Hulton all their already low priced goods were on offer at half price.
Whilst would be bargain hunters queued in the pouring rain waiting to get in someone inside came across a tin of beans priced at 9p. Another customer made a grab for it, an argument followed which ended in fighting and the police were called. One customer said “It sure put the wind up everyone”.
Friday it will be mostly cloudy but will remain dry temperature 15°

Have you tried driving across Parr Bridge at Mosley Common since the Busway opened?
I can tell you it is almost impossible with every woman, man, child, Cyclist, Horse rider, and his dog constantly pressing the crossing button Why could they not have left the bridge alone and built the busway under it?
A Dustbin Lid Award goes to whoever is responsible for that cock up.
A bouquet from Watchdog
Well just for a change I have decided to hand out a bouquet instead of a DBL. It is a well deserved award to Salford Royal NHS trust, best known for running the Outstanding rated Salford Royal Hospital.
The trust which is responsible for running many more health related services in the area has since April been turning around the Pennine Acute Hospital Trust which had been branded inadequate, by health chiefs, bringing the outstanding health care which we residents of Salford have come to take for granted, to a vast area of Greater Manchester .
All I can say is “Thank you for providing us with such a great service
And now back to the Dustbin Lid Awards.
I must award a well deserved DBL to Granada Television, ITN. And the local press for their handling of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust story. They were all way off the mark some sensationalising the story with reports of boardroom fall outs and executive officers walking out, all far from the truth.
The moral being, if you want to get the real facts you should read the Boothstown Bugle
Even as I am writing something is getting right up my nose.
When I am using the mouse if I get a little bit too close one side of the page, or the other, boxes start popping out with all sorts of information that I don’t care to use at the moment so a dustbin lid goes to the program designers who put that function there simply to annoy us
I don’t know how many of you use the social media site Streetlife.
It can be a mine of information, most of it quite useless, but I like to have a look through it to see if I can find anyone deserving of a Dustbin Lid Award, and quite often I do.
One thing that I have been noticing is that lots of Streetlifers leave a reply to comments without first having read the comment properly, or read all the replies, sometimes this can make very entertaining reading, if it doesn’t drive you mad first. So here is a well deserved DBL Award to all those Streetlifers who answer first then read the question, or not, as the case might be.
Why are there so many cars on the road with only one headlight working, and very often so badly adjusted that it is blinding drivers, and pedestrians alike heading towards them on the other side of the road?
Surely it is time that the police had a purge and slapped some heavy fines on the offenders. These drivers seem to be blissfully unaware of the danger that they are putting other drivers, pedestrians, and last and by all means least important, themselves, by not making sure that their vehicles are fit to be used on the road.
So here is a Dustbin Lid Award for all the drivers of cars with one headlight.
Yes my old friends the taxi drivers have been annoying me again and it ties in with the headlights. Why do taxi drivers not switch off their headlights when they stop on the wrong side of the road at night blinding on coming drivers? Many of them are too lazy to get out of the car and escort their passenger and open the door for them opting instead to stay in the car and phone the passenger. Surely the exercise taken to turn off the headlights would do them the world of good. DBL well deserved.
Just spotted a cracker on Streetlife having used the word hear, instead of here, one Streetlifer added another comment “Hear should be spelt Here”. OOPS how about adding another comment. “Spelt should be spelled, spelled”. A DBL for that one. Goes to Susan G.
I have decided to award this weeks top Dustbin Lid Award to Jamie Oliver, and all the crackpot so called experts who are backing his campaign to fight childhood obesity for two reasons .
#1 Where are all these hoards of fat kids? Maybe it is just something peculiar to the area where Jamie lives, but I haven’t seen them marauding around the streets of Boothstown.
#2 If it were true then the rest of us should not be be penalised because of a few parents who are too lazy to cook proper meals and serve the meals at the table, opting instead for a McDonalds carry out eaten sitting on the sofa watching Television, or playing video games, and driving their children to school, instead of walking with them.
Sorry Jamie I don’t think that this is a matter for the government to dictate to us all, and hit us with even more taxes. If you really believe that there is a problem you should put your efforts into educating the parents to act responsibly.
Well after a very brief appearance just over a month in Walkden Netto have packed their bags, and cleared off back to Danemark. The notice on their Facebook page explains it all. Or does it if everything was so hunky dory why have they gone? I think a DBL is in order
Here’s a cracker I just spotted on Ebay

Yes, of course you go out and buy a new van because a water pipe is leaking.
Who does he think he is kidding?
A Dustbin Lid Award is well deserved for that one Ebay seller dafydhughe-
I drove along the East Lancashire Road from Ellenbrook to Mosley Common at 40mph which is the speed limit for that section.
5 cars passed me like I was standing still, only to be waiting at the Mosley Common Rd. traffic lights when I arrived. A DBL for all those idiots. Will they ever learn?
